For Immediate Release
New York, NY May 29, 2007 -- GlobalWorks Group released today Global Content Management (GCM) 5.0, the newest version of its comprehensive, easy-to-use, hosted service for worldwide management of brand content.
GCM 5.0 is a set of services, capabilities and tools that streamline the way brands create, share, revise and publish content across multiple channels, languages and cultures. The system increases team productivity and speeds time to market at less cost than other Web publishing solutions, the company said.
“GCM 5.0 enables companies to manage and maintain brand standards across print and online marketing materials worldwide, while consolidating production and adaptation of Web sites and marketing collateral materials,” said Ashley Laing, Director of Technology Services at GlobalWorks. “The system is ideal for global organizations that are marketing products and services across geographic borders, cultures and languages.”
GCM 5.0 places control of content in the hands of the people who know the content the best, Laing said. Editors around the globe can edit and review content, request translations, and approve and publish. GCM 5.0 provides a means to balance central corporate control over brand image with local input, offering an optimal mix for global brand content management.
At a client using an earlier version of GCM, 200 editors publish and update content hundreds of times a day in 15 different languages, while maintaining a consistent brand image, Laing said. The client’s Web site manages an estimated 18,000 pieces of content and more than 4,000 collateral, sales and photo files, deployed from two different databases.
GCM 5.0 is a significant software upgrade, providing a richer, more interactive user interface. It also adds Microsoft SharePoint collaboration tools and Microsoft’s SQL (Structured Query Language) Server database to the system for content storage.
Speed and performance have been enhanced, thanks to AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) programming. AJAX enables Web pages to exchange small amounts of data with a server, so entire Web pages do not have to reload each time users requests a change. “This can reduce publishing tasks from as many as 10 minutes to as little as three minutes,” said Laing.
Among other enhancements, GCM 5.0 also places common tasks on screen, where editors can access them quickly, find and access content faster and use “wizards” to guide creation of content.
The SharePoint collaboration platform adds fully customizable message and discussion boards, lists, alerts, calendars, tasks, document libraries, photo libraries and survey features. The platform improves control over information technology environments, without increasing dependency on information technology departments.
GlobalWorks said that GCM 5.0 is available immediately.
