New York, NY April 30, 2008 -- GlobalWorks Group has won four Telly Awards and two Summit Creative Awards for TV spots it created for Cablevision Systems Corp.'s Optimum family of digital services, Beatriz Valdes, GlobalWorks Partner and Group Account Director, announced today.
"Reggaeton Beach" took two silver Tellys, including Best Use of Music, along with a silver Summit trophy. "Little Red Riding Hood" garnered two bronze Tellys, including Best Use of Humor, and also took a silver Summit Award. The agency’s previous Cablevision spots won four Tellys in 2006, and three Summit Awards in 2007.
"We're thrilled that these prestigious awards programs have again recognized our creativity and innovation for Cablevision," Ms. Valdes said. "The work has enjoyed extraordinary success in the marketplace, and winning the awards further amplifies that success."
The 29th Annual Telly Awards received over 14,000 entries from advertising agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable companies and corporations around the world. The judges are distinguished advertising, production and other creative professionals who are previous winners of Telly Awards.
The 2008 Summit International Creative Awards also included thousands of entries from over 25 countries, along with a discriminating panel of judges. The 14-year old Summit organization has established itself as one of the premier arbiters of creative excellence.
The GlobalWorks spots were created initially as Hispanic TV campaigns, with crossover appeal for the general market, according to Ms. Valdes. "Reggaeton Beach", in particular, has scored, she said, tremendous crossover popularity. In recent months it was in heavy rotation on network affiliates in the New York region, in both daytime and primetime slots. The spot, she noted, has become a cultural icon, its catchy 800-number jingle the focus of scores of news features, including stories on NBC and Fox TV and in the online edition of The Wall Street Journal.
The spots promote Cablevision's Optimum family of triple-play services: iO Digital Cable, Optimum Voice and Optimum Online. "Reggaeton Beach" has driven enormously successful direct response rates, Ms. Valdes said.
A multicultural creative team at GlobalWorks created the spots. The creative director was born in England; the art director is from Venezuela; the producer is from Puerto Rico; and the copywriter is from the Dominican Republic. The directors of the spots hail from Puerto Rico and Argentina, respectively.
GlobalWorks has handled Cablevision’s multicultural advertising in all ethnic markets since April 2005. Based on the crossover success of its multicultural campaigns, Ms. Valdes said, the agency recently made a general market spot for Cablevision.
