As a global leader in communication systems doing business in 44 countries in 22 languages, offering thousands of complex products and services, Avaya has to be agile. That's why the company turned to GlobalWorks for a range of fresh solutions to manage online and offline brand content shared with an ever-growing number of markets.

Confronting A Tangled Web
On the Web, Avaya was managing vast quantities of content, populating over twenty sites, in four regions and fourteen languages. Managed by multiple vendors, the site update process was costly and untimely. Avaya's mixed technology platform, static HTML web pages, and other factors made daily site maintenance challenging.

Avaya also produced massive amounts of print collateral in 14 languages, but most of the company's brand strategies and content were US-centric, and not culturally relevant for global markets.

Putting New Systems in Place
GlobalWorks' cross-disciplinary team began with a comprehensive review of existing language and translation processes, with a country-by-country analysis. We then put new processes in place for managing the creation and distribution of multilingual marketing collateral materials.

A global IT Readiness assessment analyzed existing systems, yielding comprehensive recommendations for extending Web technologies to embrace multiple languages, content globalization and distributed authorship.

A Fresh Solution for Old Challenges
Armed with this research, GlobalWorks defined, developed and deployed flexible solutions designed to integrate and leverage Avaya's considerable IT infrastructure and investments. Our solutions were built on Microsoft .Net and support all languages.

Brand templates developed for the Web sites integrated existing content management systems into a seamless production workflow. And all content is edited via software designed, developed and managed by GlobalWorks.

Cost-Savings and Faster Speed-to-Market
Our Global Content Management solution, based entirely on open standards, enables Avaya to maintain full separation of content, presentation and context layers - allowing for faster and more cost effective site maintenance through a distributed authoring and workflow process. This approach has yielded significant cost-savings for Avaya and ensured faster speed-to-market for higher quality content with worldwide reach.

Avaya can now run all public, regional, and language sites from a single, unified platform. Content managers around the globe are empowered to review, edit and publish local content through a powerful, easy-to-use Web-based solution.

Improving ROI and Brand Agility
Avaya's global Web presence has gained tremendous efficiencies. Managing and adapting the brand has become a streamlined, integrated part of managing all global marketing communications. ROI has been substantial. Millions of dollars previously spent on IT labor costs and overlapping vendors can now be directed at revenue generation, advertising and sales.

Within the first year 11 sites across Europe and North America were migrated to the GlobalWorks platform. Three more sites followed in the first quarter of 2006 - all at a fraction of the cost of other IT infrastructure migrations.
