GlobalWorks enjoys a longstanding relationship as global branding and advertising agency-of-record for Hughes Network Systems (HNS), the world’s leading provider of satellite broadband services to consumers, small business, government, and enterprise customers.

We provide a wide range of consulting and communications services to HNS, including brand strategy, corporate positioning and identity, naming, market research, advertising, Web development, content management, and employee communications.

One Brand, One Voice
In 2001 we created and launched the DIRECWAY brand, which brought the company’s scattered product and service offerings together under a single brand umbrella. We also reshaped perceptions of the HNS corporate brand from a manufacturer of satellite products to a sophisticated provider of communications services and solutions.

We positioned the DIRECWAY brand with the tagline “Broadband that’s out of this world,” and brought it to life through an integrated campaign spanning print, radio, TV, online, and co-op advertising.

We also redesigned and rebuilt the HNS.com Web site, simplifying its information architecture and regrouping product and service offerings in a logical way.

A Brand Reborn
In 2006, ownership of HNS changed hands and the company needed to completely recreate its corporate and service brands once again. GlobalWorks repositioned the Hughes Network Systems corporate brand as simply HUGHES, enabling the company to fully claim its heritage as one of the businesses founded by legendary inventor Howard Hughes. We gave the new HUGHES the tagline “Connect to the Future” — articulating the company’s forward-thinking, innovative nature.

We transformed the DIRECWAY service brand into HughesNet — a name that both captures the essence of the service’s broadband network offerings and plays upon the company’s familiar legal name, Hughes Network Systems. We designed a new logo and identity system for HughesNet, positioning it with the tagline “Broadband Unbound.”

A Growing Relationship
Our relationship with HUGHES has continued to flourish and expand. We extended the corporate and service brands globally, developing strategies and executing campaigns for dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, South America, and beyond. We developed and launched the SPACEWAY brand for the company’s next-generation satellite technology platform. We created advertising and communications programs for consumers, government, enterprise, and a range of vertical markets, as well as extensive promotional communications to developers, channel partners, and resellers.

With major competitors in the satellite industry going bankrupt in recent years, HUGHES has continued to remain agile and strong — capturing a 60 percent share of the global market for satellite broad to enterprise customers, doubling its consumer customer base, making new inroads into the government market, and expanding into new markets around the world. GlobalWorks has been there with HUGHES each step of the way.
